Los Angeles Lakers go for their third straight win on Friday when they welcome the
Cleveland Cavaliers to Staples Center.
LA won for the fourth time in five games on Tuesday by routing the Seattle SuperSonics, 119-98, as Kobe Bryant set an NBA record with 12 three-pointers and finished with 45 points.
Bryant also set an NBA record by hitting nine in a row from behind the arc. He finished 12-of-18 from three-point territory and made 16-of-28 shots overall.
Bryant, who had never made more than five three-pointers in a game, broke the previous record of 11 treys with 6:58 left to play. Dennis Scott of Orlando had set the three-point record on April 18, 1996 against Atlanta.
Shaquille O'Neal added 20 points for the Lakers, who made a team-record 17 three-pointers on 32 attempts.
LA has won three straight home games and is 11-6 in its building this season. The Lakers are 5-9 against the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have dropped their last two games and nine of their past 11. Cleveland is coming off a 106-94 home defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
Ricky Davis finished with 22 points and nine assists for the Cavaliers. Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Dajuan Wagner contributed 20 points.
Cleveland registered a season-high 11 three-pointers and scored 90 points for the first time in eight games.
The Cavs begin a six-game road trip on Friday. Cleveland is just 2-16 away from home this season and 3-9 against the Western Conference.
These teams met back on November 5 in Cleveland, with the Cavs rolling to an 89-70 victory. The win snapped a six-game losing streak in the series for Cleveland.
The Cavs have lost three straight road games against the Lakers.
