Los Angeles Lakers attempt to capture their fourth win in five games on Tuesday when they host the Seattle SuperSonics in a Pacific Division affair at Staples Center.
Most recently, the Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns, 109-97, in LA Sunday to earn a split of their home-and-home series.
Shaquille O'Neal scored 36 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Lakers. O'Neal was 15-of-19 from the floor and 6-of-13 from the free throw line.
Kobe Bryant added 31 points and 12 rebounds for the LA, which rebounded from a 107-93 loss at Phoenix on Saturday. Rick Fox chipped in 11 points and a game- high eight assists in the victory.
The Lakers dominated the glass by a 53-37 margin, and shot 52 percent from the floor while holding Phoenix to just 43 percent.
LA is 10-6 at home this season and 9-11 against the Western Conference, including a 4-4 mark within the Pacific Division.
Meanwhile, the Sonics had a two-game winning streak snapped in their last outing on Friday, falling to the Denver Nuggets, 94-82.
Seattle was led by Gary Payton, who scored 25 points and handed out a game- high 14 assists, passing Lenny Wilkens for eighth place on the NBA all-time assist list in the process.
Desmond Mason added 21 points and Rashard Lewis and Predrag Drobnjak each chipped in 13 for the Sonics.
Seattle is 10-9 on the road this season and 8-8 versus the Western Conference, with a 4-3 record against the Pacific.
With a victory, Seattle's Nate McMillan will capture his 100th win as an NBA head coach.
This is the first encounter between these teams this season. The Lakers won three of four meetings with Seattle last season, including the final two. The Sonics have captured three of their last four road games against the Lakers.
