(My Sportsbook) - Its been an exhausting 12-day, seven-game road trip for the
New Orleans Hornets, and they wrap it up on Monday night in a very tough building against a very tough team.
The San Antonio Spurs have won their last three home games and is 12-3 at SBC Center this season. The Spurs are coming off a 92-81 victory over the Washington Wizards. Tony Parker scored 21 points and handed out six assists in the victory.
Parker received high praise from Michael Jordan after the game.
"We had to double-team and he's the guy we had to double-team from, and he made some big shots down the stretch," Jordan said. "That got them back in it."
New Orleans snapped a three-game losing streak with an 88-86 overtime win over the Seattle SuperSonics at KeyArena. The win allowed the Hornets to salvage a 3-3 road trip thus far and upped their record to 7-9 away from the new Hive.
Jamal Mashburn led the way with 30 points and Robert Traylor grabbed four rebounds - including three on the offensive end - and scored the game-winning bucket over in just seven minutes of work.
"I couldn't believe it," said Hornets coach Paul Silas. "I was elated for him more than anything. He became a hero."
Baron Davis added 20 for the Hornets and David Wesley chipped in with 18.
New Orleans is now 8-4 against teams from the Western Conference.
No matter what happens Monday, Silas can live with the result of the trip.
"Whatever happens now is OK with us at this point," Silas told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "All in all, I thought we have handled everything straight."
