Steelers look to exploit Seahawks' special teams Headlines 09/16/2011

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Antonio Brown didn't need to verbalize the answer. It was written all over his face.

When asked if his eyes light up knowing, as the Pittsburgh Steelers' return man, he'll face a team on Sunday that allowed a kickoff and a punt return for touchdowns last week, his eyes, well, simply lit up.

``Definitely, man,'' Brown said.

Indeed, it's tough to not notice that the Seattle Seahawks watched San Francisco's Ted Ginn take two returns for scores in the final four minutes of a 33-17 loss at Sa

Thomas benefits from study of Polamalu NFL Football 09/15/2011

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - It doesn't take a scout's eye to see the similarities between Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas and the Pittsburgh Steelers' Troy Polamalu.

Both are just shy of six-feet tall, each an eyelash over 200 pounds and lightning quick. Both were selected in the top 20 of the NFL draft and both have played under Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

For someone who has coached both players, Thomas with the Seahawks and Polamalu at USC, the comparison between the two is an easy one to make.Copyrig

Steelers OT Colon has surgery for torn triceps NFL Football 09/13/2011
Pittsburgh, PA (MySportsbook) - Pittsburgh Steelers starting offensive tackle Willie Colon had surgery Tuesday morning to repair a torn triceps muscle. Colon will miss "an extended period of time to say the least," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said. Colon was injured late in Sunday's 35-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He signed a five-year, $29 million contract after the lockout and had been a key member of what is quickly becoming a patchwork offensive line protecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Before
Steelers lose OT Colon to torn triceps NFL Football 09/12/2011
Pittsburgh, PA (MySportsbook) - It appears the Pittsburgh Steelers lost more than a season-opening contest to the division rival Baltimore Ravens. Starting offensive tackle Willie Colon suffered a torn triceps muscle late in Sunday's game and will undergo likely season-ending surgery on Tuesday, his agent told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Colon missed the entire 2010 season with an Achilles injury, and now is the casualty of another season-ending injury after signing a five-year, $29 million contract this summe
Ravens win the battle, but can they win the war? NFL Football 09/12/2011
Philadelphia, PA (MySportsbook) - The Baltimore Ravens didn't celebrate their Sunday with hats, T-shirts or champagne. After all, titles are not won in Week 1 of an NFL season, but what the Ravens did accomplish with their 35-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers was a complete reversal of the momentum that been flowing towards the Steel City in the rivalry. Twice in the previous three seasons, the Steelers ended the Ravens' playoff run, and Pittsburgh had won six of the past eight meetings overall in what is

Steelers sign Polamalu to four-year extension NFL Football 09/10/2011
Pittsburgh, PA (MySportsbook) - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed standout safety Troy Polamalu to a four-year contract extension on Saturday, one day before the club opens the regular season in Baltimore. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. The six-time Pro Bowl and three-time All-Pro safety has been a linchpin on Dick LeBeau's defense since he was taken with the 16th overall selection in the 2003 draft. He has been part of two Super Bowl winners and another that won the AFC title last season. Pol
Steelers, Ravens ready to lock horns in Week 1 grudge match NFL Football 09/09/2011
(MySportsbook) - The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens will waste no time renewing one of the NFL's current great rivalries, as the two AFC North powerhouses go toe-to-toe Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in the 2011 season opener for both teams. These two 2010 playoff participants have engaged in some classic contests in recent years, as each of the last six regular-season bouts between the clubs have been decided by four points or less. In addition, three of the past eight matchups in the series held in
