The on-campus stadium is named in honor of former Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl and current Carolina Panthers president Jerry Richardson, who both provided financial support for the new program. The 15,000-seat stadium is scheduled to be completed by August 2012, in time for the first recruiting class to begin practice. The 49ers will begin play as an FCS independent in 2013. |

The Minnesota Vikings are counting on Christian Ponder to provide a similar kind of spark, and the early returns suggest that could be a possibility. Ponder will make his second career NFL start when the young quarterback leads the struggling Vikings into Bank of America Stadium for Sunday's clash with a Panthers team in search of its first-ever winning streak o |
